I took these while I was in Japan 10 years ago (man, it sure doesn’t seem like it has been that long.) Looking back now the shots are kind of crooked, and I just wish I had had a better camera, one with at least a zoom lense on it. The carving on the wood door was just amazing to behold, and I fear it wasn’t captured to well. But hey, a poor starving college student can’t be picky. and at least I was in Japan, right? 🙂

Did you take pictures of the vending machines too? Those were perhaps some of the craziest things, although when I was there, I never thought of it as crazy 😛 When i moved to the states, i thought, “where are the vending machines?”
Great shots, even if they’re not level. If I would have thought of torii and the shrines, I would have posted my shots from Miyajima Island (the holiest island in japan)

I would love to go to Japan, always wanted to, just never got there yet. You are so lucky, and to see all the culture must have been a wonderful experience, to say the least :=)

Yoshi – the first picture was taken at Hakone and the second was taken at San Kie-en Gardens the titles I have with the pic is Tenzuiji Juto Oido and the year it was built was 1591
